Since I am hyper-critical of the media (no, really?), it is also vital to point out when something is going right, when somebody does the right thing. These were people like you and me. They had lives, they had parents, they had lovers and loved ones. For one moment here, they are unfortunately a symbol, just like the kids at the Virginia Tech massacre were... and those countless others every year in the United States. For this one moment, they are us, and we are them.
We cannot be more than their audience, can never be more than those who stand at their graves, from all over the world, and there are so many more who don't even get that, who are never going to be more than numbers.
To those they left behind, and to those who finally gave them even a little tribute.
